When I started taking more personal photos at the age of 17 I knew very few photographers. The only photographer whose work I had seen at the time was the French photographer Lucien Clergue. I was especially drawn to his work which he titled “The language of the sands”. I saw in this serie the idea that a photo could show something that is familiar to us in a different way, which was exactly what I was looking for.
